The activities of this group are focused on supporting the decision-making process
in complex systems through the design, analysis, development, and implementation of
Operations Research and Management Science models and algorithms.
These models could represent complex systems that operate normally with scarce resources,
possibly under uncertainty and try to satisfy one or more criteria simultaneously.
The group develops applications and decision support systems in topics such as:
optimal portfolio design
investment analysis under uncertainty
logistics (i.e., location, distribution, and routing)
efficiency studies for networks of queues (e.g., banks, call centers. and telecommunications)
data envelopment analysis
optimal design of production facilities
factory physics
The applications of this group naturally arise from its interaction with other research centers in the
region and abroad, as well as from its collaboration with business partners.
